I think it’s important we say “I’m proud of you” to each other.
Yes, it’s good we say it to each other when we accomplish a big, grandiose task, but I think it’s more important we say it to each other concerning the small, basic things.
You see, sometimes simply existing is exhausting, and it means a lot to have someone tell you they’re proud of you for accomplishing the bare minimum required for staying alive.
Because when you’re tired all the way down to your soul, those basic, everyday actions feel impossible to accomplish. It can take all of your energy to merely pull yourself out of bed.
So I wanted to take the chance with this letter to tell you that I’m proud of you.
I’m proud of you for getting out of bed.
I’m proud of you for feeding yourself food.
I’m proud of you for filling your lungs with air.
I’m proud of you for doing what you can.
I’m proud of you for making it through today.
I’m proud of you. I’m proud of you. I’m proud of you.
And I’m so glad you’re here.
(Side note: I can’t believe I’ve made twenty of these things now. Wild.)
Favorite Panel: I’ve been working on drawing scenes from a variety of angles, so I’m really pleased with this panel. It stretched my skills and I like how it turned out. I will stare at it forever.
